As a mother and daughter team, we (Elena and Chrysanthi) take great pride in designing beautiful Cypriot jewelry for women. We make it an annual ritual to celebrate our success and lives with other women, and International Womens Day offers the perfect occasion. Our celebratory day in Cyprus this year was perhaps the best yet. Collaborating with renowned Cyprus island artist Marina Olympios, we invited VIP clientele to a studio tour and gifted individually created paintings, a thank you for being a loyal part of our Politia community. A colorful celebration bringing local women together to enjoy this special day of Cypriot jewelry and art.
Marina Olympios paints with minerals she collects herself from Cyprus geological soils. These bright mineral colors feature strongly in her abstract paintings in perfect harmony with our vibrant sun-soaked mediterranean island. As art lovers ourselves, choosing a female Cypriot artist to help us celebrate Womens Day 2025 is a perfect collaboration. Her colorful mineral paints echo the equally colorful gemstones used to create our Cypriot jewelry. The color relationship between Marina's mineral based paint colors and our gemstones is clearly on show and the inspiration for our collaboration. Color defines so many of our Cypriot jewelry designs including our Mediterranean Summer Collection featuring brightly colored enamel and our Bridal Capsule Collection ,which in contrast includes pastel shades of morganite and aquamarine gemstones. We hope color brings you as much pleasure as it gives us!
The light and brilliance of Marina's studio also has an affinity with the diamonds used in our engagement rings and bespoke jewelry designs. In the words of De Beers 'Diamonds Are Forever' just like the friendships formed with our customers and collaborators. It was especially lovely to welcome Mara Petrides among the guests for our Womens Day celebration following our partnership in the diamond filled launch of our Bridal Jewelry Capsule Collection last year.
'Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend' is another well known expression, best known as a song from the musical Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and its 1953 film adaptation starring Marilyn Monroe. But its story goes beyond just a catchy tune—it's deeply tied to themes of materialism, romance, and women's independence in the mid-20th century. A theatrical nod to Womens Day and a reminder that diamonds are not just for engagements, but make perfect gifts for ourselves and our female friends and family too.

International Women’s Day (IWD), celebrated annually on March 8, is a global day recognizing the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. At Politia we believe strongly in supporting each other. Cyprus is a special place for any celebration and we like to bring our community together here to network, enjoy each others company and have fun. As an all women business, naturally International Womens Day holds a special place in our hearts.
